Over 130 authors, among whom there are names that have become a symbol of Russian culture - Andrei Goncharov (1903-1979), Yuri Vasnetsov (1900-1973), Alexander Vedernikov (1898-1975), Mikhail Demidov (1885-1929) and many others, and also masters of foreign countries who have earned popularity all over the world with their bold experiments: Daniel Rosin (USA), Arnaud Lapierre (France), Sergio Illumitato, Gabriel Zago, Dario Imbo (all - Italy), Orquin Gonzalo (Spain) presented breathtaking and extraordinary compositions dedicated to the image of the mirror and related motives of reflection.
The gallery of contemporary art "Art Holding Tatiana Nikitina" will also present its works to the general public as part of this large-scale conceptual exhibition project.
The exposition of the exhibition occupies the entire space of the museum, it absorbs works of classical and contemporary art. On the first floor, spectators will meet with the mirror "universe", where the bottomless worlds of man and his environment are reflected. “A mirror can tell a lot,” is the name of one of the works by Ivan Akimov (1957-2011). This conclusion is confirmed by literally every work, in whatever genre it was created: portrait, nude art or plot scenes.
Of course, in the exposition, in which, by the way, real mirrors have been introduced, which have changed the configuration of the internal space, the viewer can feel immersed in a different reality. Female images, the so-called Venus of the 1920s - 1980s of the XX century, prevail. They try on hats (Irina Yaroshevich. "Fitting a hat". 1979), style their hair (Vasily Frolenko. "Interior". 1977), put on makeup (Alexander Tsarev. "Evening toilet". 1997), prepare for an intimate meeting (Yuri Penushkin. “At the Mirror. 1987) or simply dream and at the same time show us the immeasurable sides of the endless process of self-knowledge.
The mysticism of reflection is presented on the second floor. Here you can see still lifes in which mirrors are not only an additional source of light, but also proof of the existence of parallel worlds. How else to explain the presence in the picture of reflection without the presence of the image of the one to whom it belongs. (Lev Kramarenko. "Still life with a mirror". 1937).
On the third floor, works are concentrated that are distinguished by a combination of a variety of materials: mirrors, metals, wood, textiles, paper, concrete, works that can move (Vladimir Andreev. "Existence". 2017), sound (Daphne Nikita, Yorgos Taxiarhopoulos. "Seven mirrors. Nioxia "2020), emit light (Penelope Chiara Cocchi." Crystallization ". 2020).
The courtyard of the Museum will also become a field for experimenting with mirrors. A 12-meter-high, glowing tree, shimmering in various shades of green, created by the famous French artist-designer Arnaud Lapier, will become the center of the open-air exhibition.
